The Waukee Boys’ Swim Team and Girls’ Swimming and Diving Team have made waves of success in their four short years of existence. Not only have both programs had state qualifiers each year but they have placed at state as well. Each year’s new teams consistently outperform the previous year’s teams in both power points (ranking) and state meet points. Both teams have also been consistently ranked in the top 10 for the past two seasons, as well as state team finishes. Each team has also had numerous swimmers and relays attain all-state honors at the state meet.
The foundation for the success of the two programs has been an emphasis on strong off-season commitments with club teams, as well as numerous years of training. The level of the sport grows increasingly challenging each year with the state cut-off times and our teams continue to train both harder and smarter to obtain these desired times. Varsity-level swimmers practice both before and after school nearly every day, as well as Saturday mornings, for their training regiment.
Being two of the newest sports adopted by Waukee, these programs pride themselves on providing competitive opportunities for all team members regardless of ability level and have a large volume of swimmers commit to all four years of the sport. The teams are fortunate enough to train and compete in one of the finest pool facilities in the state at the Waukee Family YMCA. It has been host to the CIML Conference Meet, as well as the CIC JV Divisional Meet, each year for the boys’ teams.
