Tennis at Waukee High School is one of the fastest-growing sports and has experienced a tremendous amount of success since being added in 2010. The boys’ program has qualified individuals for the state tournament each year, including the 2014 individual state champion, freshman Alex Brown. Their numbers continue to grow as they have over 50 student-athletes participating in tennis each season.
Since being added as a sport in 2010, the players and coaches have committed themselves to performing at a high level. The players invest time year-round, conditioning and improving upon their individual skill level. Many travel throughout the region to participate in the tournament circuit. The coaches provide individual or group clinics / lessons to any player interested in grades 3-12, regardless of ability level.
The tennis program, as it continues to grow, is building a strong tradition of success that emphasizes competing to the fullest. Both the boys’ and girls’ programs have emerged as two of the largest in the state and are fortunate enough to compete on some of the best courts in the area located just west of Waukee Stadium.
