Warrior Volleyball Advances to State Tournament: Watch Live on Nov. 6

The Warrior Volleyball team has become the 6th of 6 Waukee High School fall athletic teams to be named “Regional Champion” by defeating Urbandale 3-0 on Monday.  The team advances to the 2018 Class 5A State Volleyball tournament.  Trailing 23-17, the Warriors scored 8 consecutive points to win the opening game 25-23 and set the tone for the rest of the match.  The Warriors won game two 25-20, and finished off the J-hawks with a 25-16 win in game three.

Haley Bush and Kate Nelson led the team with 14 and 9 kills, while Kelsey Plumb added 33 assists and Avery Showalter had 19 digs.  This is the Waukee’s fourth trip to the state volleyball tournament after qualifying in 1999, 2010 and 2011.  The #8 Warriors will play top ranked Cedar Falls at noon on Tuesday at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or on Ticketmaster, admission is $10.

Waukee High School’s Boys and Girls Cross Country, Football, Boys Golf, Girls Swim and Volleyball teams have all been named “2018 Regional Champions”.
