WHS Winter Sports
The 2018-19 winter sport season is underway.
The team began their season on November 20 with a loss to Lincoln. The Warriors scored 2950 while Lincoln scored 3247. The top bowler for the Warriors was Ben Fahrenkrug with a score of 448. On November 27, the boys defeated Ottumwa at home with the following results: Waukee 2880 Ottumwa 2785. Waukee’s top bowler was Cameron Borst with a 400 series. The boys traveled to Newton on Sat. Dec. 1 where they placed 2nd. Joe Jensen took third place with a series of 431. The team then defeated Ankeny at home on Dec. 3 outscoring them 3298 to 2618. Charlie Titus was the Warrior’s top bowler with a 483 series. The next competition for boys and girls is Dec. 11 at SE Polk.
The Warriors began their season with a defeat to Des Moines Lincoln. The results were as follows: Lincoln 2776 Waukee 2544. The top bowler was Lauren Daley with a 385 series. The team then faced Ottumwa. The final results were Ottumwa 2877, Waukee 2538. The high Waukee girls bowler was Halie Marean with a 407 series. The Warriors won the Newton Tourament on Saturday, Dec. 1, defeating Newton, Mason City, Knoxville, and Oskaloosa. The team scored 2684 points. Lauren Daley took 1st place and Maddie Peterson placed 2nd, with a 395 amd 382 series, respectively. At home on Dec. 3, the Warriors defeated Ankeny, 2660 to 2270. The top WHS bowler was Lauren Daley with a 419 series.
The Warriors kicked off they season by sweeping all 11 events on Tuesday, Nov. 11 with a 111-59 win over Johnston. The team then beat Fort Dodge on Thursday, November 29 outscoring them 128-42. They then faced Mason City on Thursday, Dec. 6 at home easily defeating them 121.5-48.5, winning 9 of 11 events. The Warriors are now 3-0. Their next competition wasmSaturday, Dec. 8 in Cedar Falls. Warriors place 2nd overall at Marcussen Invite, with a thrilling come from behind win in the 400 Free Relay (Pollitt, Patterson, Muenzenmay, Reiter). 200 Free Relay (Pollitt, Patterson, Kuhlers, Muenzenmay) with the top time in the state with their 1st place finish.
The team kicked off the season with a win over Ames, 55-40 on Tuesday, November 20. They also defeated Des Moines East Scarlets on Tuesday, November 27 with a 3rd quarter 9 point turnaround. The Warriors then traveled to Johnston on Tuesday, December, Dec. 4. After a tough game, the Warriors fell to the Dragons 41-49. Their record is now 2-1. The girls traveled to Fort Dodge on Dec. 7, and beat the Dodgers 78-18..
The Warriors began their season on Tuesday, November 27 against Des Moines East defeating them 89-47. They then traveled to Johnston on Tuesday, Dec. 4, where they defeated the Dragons 52-37. The team is now 2-0. The next competition was in Fort Dodge on Friday, Dec. 7, beating the Dodgers 23-39.
The wrestling team kicked off their season on Thursday, November 29 defeating both Ottumwa and Dowling Catholic, 65-12 and 48-21 respectively. The Warriors traveled to Park Hill, Kansas City on Saturday, Dec. 1 and came out with a 3 team wins over Waynesville, Mo, Lewis Central, Ia, and Kearney, Mo. They were narrowly defeated by 1th nationally ranked Park Hill, Mo, 31-32. The team then faced Johnston for their first home competition on Thursday, Dec. 6. With falls by Zach, Thorson, Arndt and Christensen, the Warriors won 40-28m bring their record to 7-1. The team traveled to Council Bluffs for a two day tournament on Dec. 7-8. The wrestlers finish 2nd at 40 team Council Bluffs Midwest Classic. Seven top 6 finishers. Kelley 2nd, Christensen 4th, Miller 6th, Anderson 3rd, Seifried 6th, Zach 2nd, Gammel 2nd.
