WHS Scores-Week of January 14 and 21

Girls Bowling

The Girls bowling team beat Mason City on Monday, January 14 with a score of 2528 to 1928. The top bowler was Halie Marean with a 397 series.  They are now 10-2 on the season.  The team they faced Des Moines East where they won 2731 – 2277.  The next meet that was scheduled at home against Fort Dodge on Thursday, Jan 24 is now moved to Monday, Feb. 4 due to inclement weather.

Boys Bowling

The boys bowlers move to 11-2 on the year after defeating Mason City 2955 to 2524. Ben Fahrenkrug was the top bowler with a 428 series. The boys then traveled to Des Moines East and won 2954 – 2933. The next event will be at home against the Fort Dodge Dodgers on Monday, Feb. 4 also.

Girls Basketball

The Warriors easily beat Marshalltown on Friday, Jan. 11 with a score of 81-31.  The team then battled hard against Dowling narrowing being defeated 53-57.  Because of weather the game against Valley was postponed to Monday Feb. 4.  On Friday, January 25, the girls hosted Mason City winning easily 71-52. The Warriors then traveled to Ankeny Centennial on Saturday, Jan. 26, beating the Jaguars 63-52 . Their record is 11-4. The team travels to Des Moines Hoover on Tuesday, Jan. 29

Boys Basketball

The team easily defeated  the Bobcats at Marshalltown  52-32 on Jan 11.  The team then hosted Dowling on Tuesday, Jan. 815, winning easily with a score of Waukee 72 Dowling 47. The team is now 11-0.  Like the girls, the boys game against Valley was postponed.  The Warriors easily defeated the Mason City Mohawks 76-45.  Then the boys travels to Ankeny Centennial on Saturday, January 26, winning over the Jaguars, 59-36.  The boys remain undefeated at 13-0. They also travel to Hoover on January 29.

Boys Swimming

Warrior Seniors led the team to a 130-34 win over Ottumwa  in their final swim at Waukee YMCA. The team then traveled to SE Polk on Saturday, Jan. 12 where the Warriors won the SEP Invite for 8th year in a row taking 10 of 11 events, led by Davis Kuhlers, Cameron Linder & Augie Muenzenmay all breaking meet records held by their older brothers! The boys then travel to Marshalltown for their last dual of the season on Thursday, Jan 17 where they finished their dual season 8-0 with a 104-66 win over Marshalltown. JV ends season undefeated with 117-52 victory.  On Monday, Jan. 21, the team won the CIML Iowa Conference Meet in a close battle with Valley edging them out 463 to 428 and winning 7 events. Individual wins were by Drew Reiter, Cameron Linder, & Ethan Cohen.The team remains undefeated!

Wrestling

The wrestlers traveled to Fort Dodge on Thursday, Jan. 10 where the Warriors fell to 16-7 with a 33-25 loss to Fort Dodge. On Saturday, Jan. 12, Varsity took 4th place at Bettendorf, placing 7 in the top 5. The team then traveled to Mason City on Thursday, Jan. 17 where the Warriors beat Mason City 56-20 with falls from Tallant/Seifried/Spyksma/Thorson.  The team is now 17-7.  Also,  freshmen Rylee Rodish finished 4th in the first ever IWCOA Girls State Tournament on Saturday, Jan 19. On Saturday, January 26, the Warriors earned a hard fought 2nd place finish at the SEP CIML Invitational. Highest placing in school history. Anthony Zach is the lone Champ. Kelley/Thurman/Anderson/Seifried placed runner up. Miller was 3rd. Thorson placed 4. Griffin, 5th and Sammler 6th.
